about
Who is Inu Yasha?
Inu Yasha is a Hanyou, or half (Han) demon (You). His name roughly translates into 'Dog' (Inu) and 'Demon' (Yasha).
Who are his parents?
He was born to a mortal woman, Izayoi, and the great youkai Dog Demon Lord, also known as Inu no taisho, which roughly translates into that, Dog Demon general and Lord, Inu Taisho. Roughly. Inu Yasha's mortal mother died when he was just a boy. His father died later on from injuries incurred from a battle with a demon he managed to subdue named Ryukossei, or Ryukotsusei.
What about the rest of Inu Yasha's family?
As far as we know, Inu Yasha only has one half brother, a full demon that goes by the name of Sesshoumaru, the Lord of the Western Lands. They don't get along, to put things lightly. When their father died, they were both given a sword. Inu Yasha was given the Tetsusaiga (pronounced Tessaiga), which has the power to kill 100 demons with one swing. Sesshoumaru was given the Tenseiga, which has the power to bring back to life 100 demons with one swing. A cruel twist of fate for a powerful youkai Lord like Sesshoumaru. So, he is always around complicating things, hating Inu Yasha for his father giving him Tetsusaiga, and picking fights. Inu Yasha does chop off his arm, though.
What about Inu Yasha's friends?
Kagome: Kagome, an 8th grader from our present time, found that by falling through the well housed on her families temple property, she was transported into the Feudal Era of Japan, which is full of demons fighting for power. When she first met Inu Yasha, he was trapped by an arrow to a tree. When he woke up, he thought she was the priestess who had sealed him there, Kikyou, because the two of them look alike. Kagome is, in fact, the reincarnation of the Priestess Kikyou, who was in charge of protecting the Shikon Jewel, which she gave her life for, Kagome possesses sacred powers. Not only does she have the powers of a miko, but she can also sense the jewel fragments. Since it was her fault that the sacred jewel, which came out of her body, turned into fragments scattered everywhere, she stayed in the Feudal Era to help Inu Yasha collect them.
Miroku: Miroku is a sort of 'wandering' monk that travels from village to village dispelling demons and getting paid to do so. Naraku, Inu Yasha's main enemy, had cursed Miroku's family, and as a result they have a wind tunnel in the center of their right palm that will grow wider until it consumes them. That was the fate of the men in Miroku's family before him, and will be his fate unless he can destroy Naraku. But, regardless of family curses and destroying demons, Miroku is a wise and calm young monk... when he is not asking women to have his children or stealing quick rubs at their backsides. That's the curse of Miroku's other hand: he can't keep it to himself.
Sango: Sango comes from a family/village of demon slayers. One night, on a job to kill a giant spider demon, Naraku possessed Sango's little brother Kohaku, and ordered him to kill off all of the slayers. He did, including his other father and stabbing Sango through the back. After his rampage, her brother was shot down, supposed dead. After being assumed dead and buried, Sango dug herself up. When she came up from the ground, she found that her entire village had been destroyed. Naraku, always one to complicate things, embedded a jewel shard in her back to help control her and told her that Inu Yasha was the one who did this to her village. She left, wounded and dazed, seeking Inu Yasha for revenge. After a lot of mistrust and fights, Sango soon learned the truth of Naraku and Inu Yasha's innocence, as well as Kohaku being alive and harbored by Naraku as his 'kept boy.' She travels with Inu Yasha in hopes of getting her little brother back.
Shippou: Shippou's is a little fox demon that uses fox magic to get out of bad situations. His father was killed by the Thunder Brothers. Seeking revenge for his father's death, Shippou tried to steal the jewel shards from Inu Yasha to make him strong enough to fight the Thunder Brothers himself and win. Naturally, this child demon had no chance against Inu Yasha. They became friends, of course, and he sticks close by Kagome at all times. During their wanderings, Inu Yasha and Shippou came face to face with the Thunder Brothers, and Inu Yasha 'helped' Shippou defeat them.
Kikyou? Who is that?
Remember when Kagome first met Inu Yasha, he was pinned to a tree with an arrow? All of that has to do with a series of incidents 50 years previously. Kikyou was the priestess in charge of protecting the Shikon Jewel and keeping it from the hands of demons who would use it for their own gains and taint its purity. She met the young hanf demon Inu Yasha, and the two of them fell in love. Unfortunately, she soon also met a wounded bandit named Onigumo and nursed him back to health in a cave. He too fell in love with her. So desperate to have Kikyou, Onigumo invited demons into his body to give him power. Out of that mixture of demons and Onigumo came the demon Naraku. Naraku, who hated Kikyou, betrayed her and Inu Yasha, causing her to use her dying energy to shoot Inu Yasha and seal him to a tree. Then she too died, taking the Shikon Jewel with her into death. 50 years later, her body was reborn as a clay figure, though she walks and subsists on the souls of others. Her goal is to kill Inu Yasha and take him to hell to be with her.
This Naraku guy sounds like a scary demon!
Naraku, fused by these demons that all hated Kikyou because they wanted the shard, desired only to kill Kikyou. He disguised himself as Inu Yasha, attacked Kikyou, and stole the jewel. Though she loved Inu Yasha, she was first and foremost supposed to protect the Jewel, so she grabbed her arrows to seek Inu Yasha out and take back the jewel. After doing this, he replaced the Jewel and disguised himself as Kikyou, attacking Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha, angered by this betrayal of Kikyou's, not knowing about Naraku, really went to her village and stole the Jewel. Wounded by Inu Yasha (Naraku), Kikyou used the last of her dying energy to shoot the real Inu Yasha and seal him to a tree, and then she died. Inu Yasha, once released from the tree spell by Kagome, seeks the demon Naraku for tricking he and Kikyou, bringing about her death.
So, what is Inu Yasha up to?
Trying to find Naraku to kill him for his antics 50 years previously, searching for shards of the Shikon no Tama (The Jewel of the Four Souls) to turn himself into a powerful demon, and fighting various demons along the way... including his own older brother Sesshoumaru.
What sort of weapons and attacks does Inu Yasha use?
Sankon Tessou (Iron Reaver,Soul Stealer) is something that Inu Yasha does with his claws.
Tetsusaiga (pronounced Tessaiga), which is a sword that was made out of one of his father's fangs. It has the power to kill 100 demons with one blow. The two attacks it uses (besides being swung around and cutting things) is the Windscar and ultimate technique, Backlash Wave, which pretty much shoots a demons power back at it. The sword also keeps at bay the demon nature in Inu Yasha, keeping him from turning into the Demon of Death.
What's this about the Demon of Death!? Sounds scary.
It is! Apparently, whenever Inu Yasha is separated from Tetsusaiga and his life is in jepardy, he transforms into the Demon of Death. His demon blood rises to the surface and he loses all aspect of his human nature. He remembers no one, and knows no fear, only the joy of killing.
He turns human, too? Bad luck.
Yes! Every new moon, Inu Yasha loses his cute little dog ears, fangs, long nails, and powers, and turns into a black haired human. He usually hides during this time since if any of his enemies knew he was in a weakened state, they would come after him. The day of his transformation is his deepest secrets, and only the close and trusted know.
Why did you choose the name 'Baka' for the layout?
Have you ever counted how many times Inu Yasha uses the word in the anime? Or how many times people use it when speaking of him? Plus, it sounds so funny every time he say it.
What about the layout?
This layout was made using PSP7, using a picture from somewhere and a texture from Hybrid Genesis.
